Solar powered lights are excellent alternatives to more traditional lights, for a number of reasons.
1. Solar lights are easy to install. There's no need to worry about running power cords from your house all the way to where the light is. There's no need to have to figure out how to hide these power cords, or how deep to bury them in the lawn. Since solar lighting derives all its energy from the sun, each and every light device is pretty autonomous. You just figure out where you want to install them, and you attach the devices. You only need to make sure that the device's location gets enough sun during the day, but all in all, that's pretty much it. You just need to screw or bolt or in some other way fix the device in place.
2. Some solar lights are even easier to install. There are some types of solar lights which don't even require you to bring out a screwdriver or power drill. These come in the form of a stake, and all you'll need to do is drive the stake into the ground, deep enough so that the entire thing doesn't wobble, and is fairly steady. That's it. No tools required. Just stake it and move on.
3. Solar lights are easy to transfer. Since there's isn't any wiring to worry about when installing the device in the first place, there isn't any wiring to worry about as well, if and when you decide you want to transfer it somewhere else. All you need to do is detach the fixture, transfer it, attach it at its new location, and you're done. And for those lights which simply stake into the ground, the process is even simpler. Just pull it up, transfer it, and push it back down into the ground. Done.
4. Solar powered lights operate automatically. This is one particular function, built into many of these devices, that make them so useful. In order to conserve power, many of these products come with a sensor which is able to detect when it's dark outside. So, for example, if the device determines that night has already fallen, it automatically turns on its light. Later, when the device senses that the sun is already rising, and the sky has already gotten bright, it automatically turns off, so that the energy stored in its battery isn't wasted. This has many benefits. For instance, the property owner no longer needs to worry about manually turning the device on or off, at dawn or at dusk. Instead, he can sit back, comforted by the knowledge that the device is already doing all that work for him. This is already great for security purposes, so that even if no one's at home, the house will still be well lit when night begins to fall.
