Solar powered motion light devices are not meant to be on for the entire segment of the evening, and instead they’re meant to turn on only when there is movement detected nearby. And the whole point in this instance is really to create doubt in the mind of any would be intruder. So for instance, there may be a person who is looking to case a particular house or property. In order to lessen the possibility that that person will be seen when he approaches the property, that person will have a look around and will try to identify what particular areas of the house are not that well lit. So after the person identifies which areas of the property are not that well lit, that person will then either immediately or at a later day, make an approach following a path which is as less well lit as possible. And that really is the situation when certain parts of a property are well lit, those areas which are illuminated become relatively more safe in terms of protection from an intruder, but at the same time, those areas which are relatively less well lit become more vulnerable. And those are precisely the areas that a would be intruder may choose to target.

Solar powered motion light devices play an important role because they can then be used to secure those darker areas. A would be intruder might choose to target one of those locations, and when that person comes close enough to the device’s sensor and when that person’s movement is picked up by the sensor, the light will turn on. This is where the doubt comes into play. After all, the light was tripped by a sensor, but the intruder may not know that immediately. He may be surprised by the sudden illumination and he may be led to believe in that short amount of time available to him, that there is someone inside the house who has turned on the light. That person may have perhaps seen him and turned on the light as a response. Or perhaps the person did not see him outside, but the light cast in that area may have been enough to make the intruder completely visible. In fact, there may not be anyone inside at all. The house may be completely empty, but the intruder may not want to take any chances since he doesn’t have all the information, and it is this doubt which leads to making the property safer from those who have nefarious intent. So that is one reason a solar powered motion light can be quite useful.
